About this task

In this task, you will create a Production Data Hub Service (DHS) instance with private access to your DHS endpoints. The DHS instance uses a peered DHS network.

Procedure

  1. Go to the MarkLogic Data Hub Service home page and select Data Hub Service from the menu.
  2. In the Create Data Hub Service page, configure your DHS instance.

    Private production DHS instance

    Field Description
    Service Type
    • Choose Production if this DHS instance will be the live production instance of your data hub.
    • Choose Development if this DHS instance will be used for development and testing only.
Name The name of your DHS instance.
Network The name of the pre-configured network to use. The network can be peered or public.
Region The region where your preconfigured network is located. Default: us-west-2. See Supported Regions - AWS .
    Access
    • Choose Public if you want to allow public access to your DHS endpoints. You can use any machine that is set up as a peer of the MarkLogic virtual private cloud (VPC).
    • Choose Private if you want to restrict access to your DHS endpoints. You need a bastion host inside a VPC that can access the MarkLogic VPC. For additional information on the bastion host, see Set Up a Secure Client-Side VPC - AWS.
Important: For improved security, use a peered network with VPC peering.
Capacity MarkLogic Data Hub Service capacity is measured in MarkLogic Capacity Units (MCU). One MCU has approximately 1GB of memory with appropriate CPU and network capacity. MarkLogic Data Hub Service is provisioned to provide a baseline level of MCUs. This provisioned capacity governs the target storage for DHS as well as how frequently and for how long it can burst above baseline performance. See Pricing.
    1. In the MCU range drop-down menu, select the capacity range for your service.
    2. Drag the slider to select your preferred capacity.
Important: After you create your service, you cannot change the capacity range. You can change the capacity only within the previously selected range. For example, if you create a service with a range of 64-112, you can change the capacity from 80 to 96; you cannot change the range to 128-240.
