MarkLogic Capacity Units Year

About MarkLogic Capacity Units Year in MarkLogic Data Hub Service

MarkLogic Capacity Units (MCUs) Year is a contract that enables you to purchase a baseline level of MCUs in bulk and at a discount. Contracts are for each region and applied hourly to your bill based on compute usage. For details about MCUs, see Pricing.

To purchase an MCUs Year contract, please contact your MarkLogic Account Executive or Sales Representative.

Example

The following examples further explain how MCUs Year contracts are applied to your bill:

In all examples, assume you purchased an MCUs Year contract for 64 MCUs in the us-west-2 region, meaning you can consume 64 MCUs per hour in the us-west-2 region. If you consume more than 64 MCUs per hour in the us-west-2 region or any amount of MCUs in a different region, your contract will not apply.

You are running two services in the us-west-2 region. The first service consumes 64 MCUs per hour. The second service consumes 32 MCUs per hour.

Note: To view your hourly compute usage by region, see Billing Summary.
MCU consumption is greater than MCUs Year contract

In this example, the first service (64 MCUs) and the second service (32 MCUs) are running. In total, your hourly compute usage is 96 MCUs per hour (64 + 32). Compute usage for the first service (64 MCUs) is completely covered by the contract. However, you are charged full price for the second service (32 MCUs) because the additional compute usage is not covered by the contract.

MCU consumption is less than MCUs Year contract

In this example, the first service (64 MCUs) is stopped and the second service (32 MCUs) is running. In total, your hourly compute usage is 32 MCUs per hour. Compute usage for the second service (32 MCUs) is completely covered by the contract. You are not charged compute usage for the first service (64 MCUs) because the service is stopped.

MCU consumption is equal to MCUs Year contract

In this example, the first service (64 MCUs) is running and the second service (32 MCUs) is stopped. In total, your hourly compute usage is 64 MCUs per hour. Compute usage for the first service (64 MCUs) is completely covered by the contract. You are not charged compute usage for the second service (32 MCUs) because the service is stopped.

Services are stopped

In this example, both services are stopped. When services are stopped, you are not charged compute usage.

MCU consumption in a region not included in MCUs Year contract

In this example, two services are running in the us-west-2 region: the first service (64 MCUs) and the second service (32 MCUs). Additionally, the third service (64 MCUs) is running in the us-east-1 region. In total, your hourly compute usage is 160 MCUs per hour (64 + 32 + 64). Compute usage for the first service (64 MCUs) is completely covered by the contract. However, you are charged full price for the second service (32 MCUs) and the third service (64 MCUs). You are charged full price for the second service (32 MCUs) because the additional compute usage is not covered by the contract. You are charged full price for the third service (64 MCUs) because the us-east-1 region is not covered by the contract.
