An Field Range Index accelerates queries for comparisons within a specified type.
Each Field Range Index keeps track of the values appearing in all elements with a given name, type, and collation.
Field Range Indexes also
allow you to use the cts:element-values family of
lexicon APIs and to use the cts:element-range-query
constructor in searches.
Configure the following for each Field Range Index:
- The scalar type specifies the ordered domain for the index. Each of the types correspond with an XQuery type.
- field name specifies the name of the field.
- The collation specifies the collation to use in the comparison operations.
- range value positions specifies whether index data should be included that speeds up the performance of proximity queries involving range queries. Turn this index off if you are not interested in proximity queries and if you want to conserve disk space and decrease loading time.
- invalid values specifies whether server should allow insertion of documents that contain elements on which range index is configured and their contents cannot be coerced to the index data type. It can be configured to either ignore or reject. By default server rejects insertion of such documents. However, if a user configures invalid values to ignore, these documents can be inserted. In that case, the contents of invalid elements will not be indexed. So range queries and lexicon functions that mainly operate off of range index, will ignore existence of such documents in the database.
Buttons and Tabs:
- Use the Configure tab to edit existing range field index configurations. Click the delete button corresponding to a range index to remove it.
- Use the Add tab to add new range field indexes to the database configuration.
